Speechmo privacy

Last updated 24 October 2026

Speechmo is a speech-practice app. You read words aloud, it listens, and it tells you how a sound came out. This page says what it keeps, where, and how to delete it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

What Speechmo is not

Speechmo is a practice tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose a speech disorder or replace a speech pathologist. For some sounds it tells you whether the target sound came out clearly or to try again; that is feedback on one sound in one attempt, not an assessment of your speech. Where it cannot judge a sound reliably it says so and only counts the practice. It gives no treatment instructions.

Your recordings

In the app on your phone, your voice is checked on your phone. The sound checker runs on the device, never on our server. The result goes to your account: which sounds were heard, the verdict, and a few numbers about the recording (length, loudness, whether speech was detected). The recording itself is then kept with your account too, so you can play it back later in History on any device where you sign in. It is stored, not checked again. You can delete it at any time (see below).

In the web version, the recording is sent to the Speechmo server so it can be checked there, and is kept with your account in the same way.

Your account

Sign-in is by email and password, handled by Supabase, an authentication service. Speechmo stores your email address and a user id there; it never sees or stores your password. Your practice history, settings and results are kept against that user id on the Speechmo server.

What is stored, exactly

Your recordings and results are personal. Your voice, which sounds you are practising, what the checker heard and how each attempt was judged say something about your speech. Linked to your account, we treat them as sensitive, health-related information: kept only for you, used only to show you your own practice, never used to train models, never shared, and deleted with your account.

There is no advertising, no analytics service, no crash-reporting service, and no sale or sharing of data with anyone. Server logs hold attempt ids and outcome codes, never audio or transcripts.

Who can see it

Only you, through your account. Speechmo's operator can access the server for maintenance and to investigate a problem you report. Nobody else. If a clinician ever reviews your recordings, that happens by you sharing them, not by the app.

Deleting

Settings → Delete account removes your account and everything above: history, results, settings, and any recordings held on the server. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Signing out keeps your data; deleting removes it.

Children

Speechmo is for adults practising their own speech. It is not directed at children under 13, and no account should be created for a child.

Changes and contact

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the app will tell you. Questions: braveen.mu@gmail.com.

Speechmo keeps what it needs to show you your own practice, and nothing it does not.
